Invitation to join the Fossil Fuel Subsidies Awards ceremony on 22 May
CAN
Europe and partners warmly invite you to a medal ceremony that will
coronate the most controversial subsidies to fossil fuels by European
governments, on Monday 22 May from 9:30 till 10:00 am in Mundo B, conference room.
The
European Fossil Fuel Subsidies Awards ceremony will conclude our
campaign to raise public awareness about the huge subsidies still
going to oil, gas and coal activities, despite government pledges to
phase them out in accordance with the Paris climate agreement.
Over
the past months, Climate Action Network Europe and partners have been
running a contest to identify and expose the most concerning support
for fossil fuels by European governments. The winners have been
selected through online public vote and will receive a prize at the
awards ceremony.
Out
of 15 different fossil fuel support schemes, we will reveal the
deadliest, sneakiest and dirtiest fossil fuel subsidies in Europe.
Join our awards ceremony and get first hand information on how governments still continue feeding
fatal climate change with taxpayers money.
Nominated
countries include: Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic,
Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland,
Romania, Slovakia, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
