The documentary sheds light on the systemic human rights violations, including torture and mistreatment of detainees, committed by Belarusian authorities since the mass protests in August 2020 following the disputed re-election of Alexander Lukashenko as President. The situation in Belarus has been assessed as amounting to crimes against humanity by the OHCHR, and has drawn widespread international attention and condemnation.
